INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) is an international professional society dedicated to development and promulgation of practices for the safe, secure and effective stewardship of nuclear materials through the advancement of scientific knowledge, technical skills, policy dialogue, and enhancement of professional capabilities.
​
The INMM is a nonprofit technical organization with worldwide membership of engineers, scientists, technicians, managers, policymakers, analysts, commercial vendors, educators, and students. The Institute promotes leading research and development as well as the practical application of new concepts, approaches, techniques and equipment for managing nuclear materials.

The INMM comprises six technical divisions, each covering a major dimension of the overall nuclear materials management domain:

INMM UFRJ Student Chapter
The purpose of the INMM UFRJ Student Chapter is to promote the mission of the INMM and to perform any special functions appropriate for a student organization.

Within UFRJ, this Student Chapter will:

Advance nuclear materials management in all its aspects through Chapter activities.
​

Promote research and development in the field of nuclear materials management.
​

Improve the qualifications of those engaged in nuclear materials management and safeguards through education and the development of professional ethics.
​

Disseminate nuclear materials management information through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions, and publications.
​

Increase interest in students of UFRJ in nuclear materials management disciplines.
​

Provide leadership opportunities to students at UFRJ studying in fields related to nuclear materials management.

Interact with the other INMM Professional or Student Chapters to create synergies, foster information exchange, share best practices and pursue potential joint activities.

The INMM UFRJ Student Chapter is not organized for profit and no part of its net earnings inure to the benefit of any private individual. The Chapter shall at all times be subject to the Bylaws of the INMM and to all rules and regulations prescribed from time to time by the Executive Committee and those defined in the INMM Operations Manual for the conduct of INMM as a whole. ​
POLICY ON POLICY POSITIONS
Nuclear material management involves technology and policy.
Official policy is the domain of governments. It is INMM policy that INMM does not take a stand on policy matters.
Student Chapters are required to follow this INMM policy in the conduct of its activities. Students are free to support whatever policy positions they choose so long they do not associate their position with the INMM.
